Union Minister Anurag Thakur critiqued the opposition INDIA alliance today, accusing them of lacking a unified ideology and leadership in their resistance to the “one nation, one election” proposal. Thakur labelled the alliance a “mixture of egoists and opportunists,” alleging that it has intentions of damaging Sanatan Dharma. He prompted the opposition to clarify whether their refusal stemmed from a fear of elections or a reluctance to save the nation’s resources.
The minister, who attended several events held by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, highlighted that despite several meetings, the INDIA alliance failed to nominate a leader or convenor. In addition, Thakur criticised Congress leader P Chidambaram and other leaders for allegedly disrespecting the constitution and leveraging recent calamities for political gains instead of appreciating central aid. Referring to an incident of atrocity in Hamirpur, the home district of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Thakur emphasised the urgent need to address the deteriorating law and order situation in Himachal Pradesh.
