On Thursday, several regions in Haryana witnessed sunshine, but the relief from the cold remained elusive. Temperatures across most cities were recorded 6-9 degrees below normal, with some districts placed under Cold Day and Severe Cold Day categories. Additionally, thick fog blanketed the area during early morning and nighttime, reducing visibility to 50 to 200 meters.

The Meteorological Department issued a warning indicating the possibility of dense to very dense fog in different locations on the 5th and 6th of January. Furthermore, both days are expected to witness chilly and extremely cold temperatures. The weather department forecasted the activation of a Western Disturbance from January 8th, hinting at mild rainfall around January 9th. However, following the rainfall, the weather is anticipated to revert to dry conditions.

The maximum temperature recorded in Ambala on Thursday was 10.8 degrees Celsius, 6.7 degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 6.4 degrees Celsius. Hisar observed a maximum temperature of 12 degrees Celsius, marking a deviation of 6.8 degrees below normal, with the minimum temperature at 4 degrees Celsius. Karnal recorded a maximum temperature of 10.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 6.5 degrees Celsius.

The Indian Meteorological Department issued an orange alert for severe cold days and dense fog in Haryana today and tomorrow. Despite the possibility of temporary relief due to the cold weather conditions, an upsurge in cold intensity is expected thereafter, with chances of dense fog from January 8th to 10th.
