Apple has officially entered the foldable smartphone market with the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone. Unveiled on September 9, 2026, the device introduces a passport-style design with 5.4-inch outer display and 7.6-inch inner folding display. It is powered by Apple’s new A20 Pro chip and runs iOS 27 with software designed specifically for the foldable form factor.
iPhone Duo Price In India
The iPhone Duo is positioned as Apple’s most premium iPhone yet. The India pricing is:

- 512GB: ₹3,24,900
- 1TB: ₹3,74,900
- 2TB: ₹4,49,900
Apple has confirmed 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage options globally. The India starting price and storage-wise pricing have also been reported following the launch.
The phone will be available for pre-order in India from October 16, 2026, while general availability begins October 23.
iPhone Duo Colours
The iPhone Duo is available in two colour options:
• Star White
• Night Sky
Apple has paired these finishes with a Grade 5 titanium frame and a mirror-polished finish.
iPhone Duo Display
The biggest attraction is the dual-display foldable design.
When closed, the phone has 5.4-inch outer Super Retina XDR display. When opened, it reveals 7.6-inch inner Super Retina XDR folding display, making it the largest display ever offered on an iPhone. Apple says the inner display is 50 percent larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max display.
Both displays support ProMotion with refresh rates up to 120Hz, Always-On functionality and up to 3,000 nits of peak outdoor brightness. The two screens also use the same aspect ratio, allowing content to scale more naturally when moving between the folded and unfolded positions.
The inner screen uses a nano-texture finish designed to reduce glare and reflections while helping minimise the visibility of the fold crease. Apple has also added a scratch-resistant coating and reinforced the folding display structure.
iPhone Duo Touch ID Replaces Face ID
The iPhone Duo does not use Face ID. Instead, Touch ID is built into the side button.
This allows authentication whether the phone is folded or unfolded. Apple also says users can unlock the device using a supported Apple Watch.
iPhone Duo Support Apple Pencil
The iPhone Duo will support Apple Pencil with USB-C later this year. Users will be able to take notes, sketch and mark up documents on either display.
iPhone Duo Design And Durability
The iPhone Duo uses Grade 5 titanium for its frame and hinge cover. The front is protected by Ceramic Shield 2, while Ceramic Shield is used on the back. Apple says the front glass offers three times better scratch resistance than the previous generation.
The device also carries an IP68 rating for splash, water and dust resistance. Apple says it was tested to withstand immersion at a maximum depth of 6 metres for up to 30 minutes under controlled laboratory conditions.
The hinge contains more than 100 components and is designed to provide controlled opening and closing while supporting the centre of the folding display.
iPhone Duo Processor And Performance
The iPhone Duo is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip, the same chip used in the iPhone 18 Pro models. It is built using a 2-nanometre process and features a six-core CPU, seven-core GPU and Dual 16-core Neural Engine.
Apple claims the A20 Pro delivers up to 20 percent faster CPU performance than the A19 Pro, up to 50 percent more memory bandwidth and up to 35 percent better sustained performance than the iPhone 17 Pro.
For thermal management, the phone uses custom vapour chamber connected directly to chip package. The system is designed to maintain performance during gaming, multitasking and demanding AI workloads.
iPhone Duo Camera Specifications
The iPhone Duo features a 48MP Dual Fusion camera system consisting of:
• 48MP Fusion Main camera
• 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera
• 12MP Center Stage front camera
• Under-display FaceTime camera
The main camera supports up to 2x optical-quality zoom and can capture 48MP photos. The Ultra Wide camera also supports macro photography.
The under-display FaceTime camera is hidden beneath the inner screen, allowing the large display to remain free of a visible camera cutout.
iPhone Duo Camera Features
Apple has developed several camera features specifically around the foldable design.
Smart Take uses on device AI to automatically capture a photo when people are ready, while Duo Preview shows a live camera preview on the outer screen. This allows people being photographed to see the framing before the picture is taken.
The phone also includes Kid Cue, which uses animations on the outer display to attract children’s attention, and Duo FaceTime, which allows people around the phone to join a video call through the outer display.
For video recording, the main camera supports 4K at 120fps with Dolby Vision. Cinematic effects can also be applied after recording at up to 60fps.
iOS 27 And Foldable Features
The iPhone Duo runs iOS 27. Apple has redesigned parts of the interface to take advantage of the two displays and different folding positions.
One of the biggest additions is Split View, which allows two apps to run side by side on the large inner screen. Users can also open two windows of the same app and save pairs of apps for quick access.
The Dynamic Island has also been redesigned for the Duo’s vertical display layout, while the interface automatically adapts as the device is folded, opened or rotated.
iPhone Duo Connectivity
The device is eSIM-only worldwide and supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread through Apple’s N1 wireless networking chip. It also uses the company’s C2 cellular modem system.
The phone supports MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging. Apple says it can reach 50 percent charge in around 30 minutes wirelessly under its specified testing conditions.
