In an unexpected twist to online education, Taiwanese math teacher Chang Hsu has become a sensation on an adult content platform, Pornhub. His bold strategy to upload calculus lessons on the site has earned him over ₹2 crore annually, breaking barriers in the world of education.
A Unique Teaching Approach
Chang Hsu, who holds a Master’s degree in mathematics and has 15 years of teaching experience, decided to think outside the box to reach a larger audience. In May 2020, he began uploading calculus lessons on Pornhub, a platform known for adult content. This unorthodox method led to nearly 3 million views and 13,000 subscribers, significantly boosting his income.
From YouTube to Pornhub
Initially, Hsu uploaded his lessons on YouTube, but the competition was intense. Looking for new avenues, he turned to Pornhub, using the slogan “Play Hard, Study Hard.” The move paid off, with many students discovering his lessons on the platform and enrolling in his paid courses.
Growing Popularity
Under the handle changshumath666, Hsu teaches complex calculus concepts in a relatable manner, appearing in his signature grey hoodie and glasses. His lessons, lasting around 40 minutes, draw an average of 20,000 viewers per video. Interestingly, Hsu estimates that more than 60% of his audience watches his videos for entertainment, while the rest tune in for the educational content.
Expanding His Reach
While Hsu attempted to upload his math lessons to other adult websites, many of them quickly removed the content due to strict moderation policies. Despite this, his Pornhub strategy alone has earned him ₹2 crore per year, allowing him to cover personal expenses and pay his employees.
