Himanshu Sangwan, the Railways pacer, knocked off Virat Kohli for only 6 runs in the first innings of Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, so cutting his Ranji Trophy comeback short. Delhi won by an innings, so Kohli did not get to bat in the second innings. Even so, Himanshu made front page for bowling Kohli clean.

Himanshu supposedly asked Kohli for an autograph on the ball he used to dismiss the batting idol after the game. From Himanshu&’s interview with Dainik Jagran, Kohli said, “What a balllet it was; it was magnificent delivery. Before signing the ball, I very much enjoyed it.”

Kohli, who said, “I’ve heard of you,” gave Himanshu—now of Railways but before of Delhi at the Under-19 level—additional motivation. You are excellent at bowling. Good luck in the years to come.

Though Kohli was only there briefly, Delhi won clearly thanks to five-off spinner Shivam Sharma’s five wickets. Setting a 133-run lead, Delhi’s win followed upon their first-innings 374 all out. Having an innings defeat, the railroads fell only 114 in the second inning.

Kohli’s presence in the dressing room and his interactions with both sides during the match attracted much notice, although he didn’t have much run at the crease.
