RCB Crush CSK By 50 Runs, End 17-Year Drought At Chepauk

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) recorded a comprehensive 50-run win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 encounter on Friday. This was RCB’s first victory at CSK’s home venue, Chepauk, since 2008.

Pursuing a target of 197, CSK failed to gain momentum and were limited to 146 for 8 in 20 overs. Opener Rachin Ravindra scored the highest with 41, while former captain MS Dhoni also delayed the inevitability a bit with an unbeaten 30 off 16 balls. RCB’s bowling unit was too potent, with Josh Hazlewood (3/21), Yash Dayal (2/18), and Liam Livingstone (2/28) taking the lead.

Earlier, RCB had set up a competitive 196 for 7 after being invited to bat. Skipper Rajat Patidar had kept the innings afloat with a 51-run innings off 32 balls. Phil Salt (32 off 16), Virat Kohli (31 off 30), and Tim David (22* off 8) also contributed to the score.

CSK’s bowling lineup was spearheaded by Noor Ahmad, who claimed 3 wickets for 36 runs. Matheesha Pathirana (2/36), Ravichandran Ashwin (1/22), and Khaleel Ahmed (1/28) also contributed valuable breakthroughs.

This commanding win gives a boost to the campaign of RCB while halting their old losing streak in CSK’s fortress.
