IPL 2025: Riyan Parag Fined for Slow Over-Rate Against CSK
The BCCI fined Riyan Parag on Monday due to Rajasthan Royals’ slow over-rate during the match against Chennai. As it was the team’s first offence in the season, Riyan Parag was fined INR 12 lakhs under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which governs minimum over-rate offences.
Riyan Parag Joins Hardik Pandya in Over-Rate Penalty List in IPL 2025
Riyan Parag became the second captain in IPL 2025 to be penalized for a slow over-rate. Mumbai Indians’ Hardik Pandya faced a similar fine after their match against Gujarat Titans, where MI lost by 36 runs.
Hardik had previously served a one-match ban in IPL 2024 after MI breached the IPL Code of Conduct twice. However, ahead of IPL 2025, the BCCI announced that captains would no longer face suspensions for slow over-rates. The BCCI announced that the teams will instead receiving demerit points based on the severity of the offence.

Sri Lankan wrist-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga exposed Chennai’s struggle against spin, claiming 4/35. Sandeep Sharma held his nerve in the final over, defending 20 runs and dismissing MS Dhoni to seal RR’s victory.
