In a significant development related to BCCI’s search for a new coach for Team India, it has been reported that Gautam Gambhir is set to be officially appointed as head coach by the end of June.
He will be signing the contract with BCCI until the end of 2027 ODI world cup and will get to choose its own support staff.
As per the reports, the question of who will become India’s head coach was largely decided just previous month. Thus, hinting at Gambhir’s appointment for the role.
According to Dainik Jagran report, it is implied, that Gautam Gambhir and the board had already talked about announcement date, which is now solely dependent on India’s campaign in ongoing T20 world cup.
Furthermore, he also kept a demand, in front of the board, that he would like to choose his own set of support staff members.
His request was granted, and the board will issue an official announcement regarding Gambhir’s appointment as head coach by the end of this month.
Which means, that Indian team might witness major overhaul in the support staff including possible replacement for batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling coach Mhambrey, and fielding coach T Dilip.
