But this time off the field, Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has reached still another milestone. The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has chosen to rename a street in the city after the famous off-spinner, further enhancing his already impressive cap.
Officially renamed in his honor will be Chennai’s West Mambalam Ramakrishnapuram 1st Street on which Ashwin now lives, according a report by the Times of India. A business belonging to Ashwin, Carrom Ball Event and Marketing Company Private Limited, presented the renaming idea. Originally the plan indicated renaming either Arya Gowda Road or Ramakrishnapuram 1st Street; in the end the GCC formally endorsed the latter.
