As preparations intensify for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, political parties are actively devising their strategies. Amidst this fervour, significant rifts and realignments are unfolding within various political factions. In an unexpected twist within the Samajwadi Party (SP) of Uttar Pradesh, a substantial division has emerged, dealing a blow to its leader, Akhilesh Yadav.
Remarkably, three prominent youth leaders from the Samajwadi Party have stepped forward to voice their dissent. These leaders, once closely aligned with Akhilesh Yadav and the Lohia Vahini movement, have now openly expressed their concerns. Pradeep Tiwari, former National President of Lohia Vahini, along with Brijesh Yadav, former State President of the Youth Wing, and youth leader PD Tiwari, have joined forces against their own party leader.
Upon their departure from the Samajwadi Party, these three leaders have levelled serious allegations against Party President Akhilesh Yadav and his inner circle. Notably, their discontent is most pronounced towards Swami Prasad Maurya and Udayveer Singh. Additionally, their exit is linked to issues surrounding the Progressive Democratic Alliance (PDA), where they assert their efforts to engage Akhilesh Yadav were met with disappointment, ultimately leading to disillusionment with the Party President. In a significant development, these departing leaders have announced their intention to establish a distinct platform catering to youth, positioning it in contrast to the Samajwadi Party. This initiative is slated to commence in September, signalling a forthcoming challenge that Akhilesh Yadav and his party are bound to confront.
Pradeep Tiwari, who held various roles within the Samajwadi Party’s front organizations, stated that their attempts to discuss PDA-related concerns with Akhilesh Yadav were met with resistance. He also revealed that when plans arose to burn the Ramcharitmanas upon the signal of Swami Prasad Maurya, his opposition was dismissed. Tiwari emphasizes that any statements made on behalf of Swami Prasad Maurya carry the endorsement of Akhilesh Yadav. He further predicts that Yadav will have to reckon with the repercussions of these events, which could significantly dent his electoral prospects. In a pointed query, Tiwari questions whether Akhilesh Yadav is solely focused on his own future or has taken the people’s future into account.
