McDonald’s temporarily shuts US offices while it processes layoff notices

As per Reuters while citing a Wall Street Journal report, global fast-food chain McDonald’s is temporarily closing its US offices as it prepares to tell corporate workers about layoffs as part of its restructuring.

According to the story, the closure will take place this week. As per the report, in an internal email sent last week to US employees and some foreign staff, they were requested to work from home from Monday to Wednesday so that staffing decisions could be delivered online. It is unknown how many workers will be laid off.
“During the week of April 3, we will communicate key decisions related to roles and staffing levels across the organization,” the US-based company stated in the email.

The fast-food chain, as per the report, in January said that it would review corporate staffing levels as part of an updated business strategy.
