Sonakshi Sinha, star of “Heeramandi,” recently revealed her thoughts on her wedding attire and upcoming fashion trends. At the Hyundai FDCI India Couture Week 2024, she shared that she had always planned to wear her mother’s saree and jewelry for her wedding to longtime partner Zaheer Iqbal. She believes that a simpler, yet beautiful, bridal look will be a future fashion trend.
Sonakshi discussed her wedding outfits after walking the runway for designer Dolly J’s new collection, “La Vie En Rose,” at the couture week. Sonakshi and Zaheer tied the knot on June 23 in a private civil ceremony at her home with close family and friends.
For the ceremony, Sonakshi wore her mother Poonam Sinha’s saree and jewelry, completing the look with a sleek bun, while Zaheer wore an embroidered kurta-pyjama. For the reception, Sonakshi chose a red Banarasi saree, and Zaheer wore a white open jacket with matching pants.
Sonakshi explained, “I was very clear that for the actual signing and wedding, I wanted to wear my mother’s saree and jewelry. It was all planned in my head, and we just brought it to life on the day.”
She also mentioned her belief that simpler bridal looks are making a comeback. “I felt so comfortable at my wedding because I was in a simple but beautiful outfit. It allowed me to enjoy the day without stress. I think this trend of a simpler bride is going to be popular.”
Zaheer, who co-starred with Sonakshi in the 2022 film “Double XL,” wore an outfit designed by a friend, noting, “We went to his friend’s studio, saw one outfit, and decided on it. We weren’t too fussy.”
At the couture week, Dolly J’s collection featured elegant designs in various colors and fabrics, including light blue, marine green, pink, and red. The show included sarees, anarkali suits, and evening gowns adorned with crystals, faux fur, and intricate embroidery. Sonakshi closed the show wearing a light pink high-slit corset gown with floral net sleeves and a long train. She complemented her look with minimal accessories and a curly hairstyle.
Dolly J described the collection as aiming for a fresh approach with corsets replacing traditional blouses, and she noted that the outfits are designed to make brides feel beautiful and enjoy their special day.
The India Couture Week 2024 will conclude on July 31 with a grand finale by Falguni Shane Peacock.
