Vantara rehab centre for Madhuri: Anant Ambani’s expansive animal welfare initiative, Vantara, has put forward a proposal to build a dedicated satellite rehabilitation centre for Madhuri, a 34-year-old elephant residing in Kolhapur’s Nandani area. The move comes amid legal proceedings and growing concerns from the Jain community following a Supreme Court directive to relocate Madhuri to the 3,000-acre shelter in Gujarat.
The proposed facility is planned in collaboration with the Jain Matha and the Government of Maharashtra. Vantara assured that the centre will align with international best practices and established animal welfare standards. This initiative is seen as a conciliatory step after public and community outcry over Madhuri’s relocation.
Vantara Backs Return Proposal
Vantara expressed its willingness to support any application by Jain Matha and the Government of Maharashtra seeking the return of beloved Madhuri, the said in a recent statement. They also said that they will provide veterinary and technical help for the elephant’s return, subject to the Supreme Court’s approval.
