A senior police officer stated that the houses of five local terrorists, currently operating from across the border and attempting to revive militancy in Doda district, were raided by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday.
Abdul Qayoom, the Senior Superintendent of Police of Doda district, mentioned that the raids in the Gandoh area were conducted in connection with a case registered against the five terrorists in 2021, involving various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
According to the SSP, the searches conducted will assist in collecting evidence and identifying the supporters and sympathisers of the terrorists who are functioning as overground workers. The individuals whose houses were searched include Atta Mohd, also known as “Adil Mubassir,” from Tanta Kahara; Mohd Yasir, also known as “Shahid,” from Kunthal-Tanta; Mohd Shafi, also known as “Nadeem Bhai,” and Amjid Ali, also known as “Rashid,” from Trinkal Kahara; and Majid Hussain, also known as “Abu Zahid Saqib,” from Manoie Chilli Pingal, as stated by the SSP.
“All these local terrorists exfiltrated to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in the early 1990s and are currently operating from Pakistan. They are making desperate attempts to revive militancy in Doda by way of contacting the local youth through virtual mode and instigating them to join militancy,” Qayoom said.
