Vijay Walkar, father of Shraddha Walkar who was murdered by her live-in partner Aftab Poonawalla last year, said on Monday that the one-year anniversary of his daughter’s murder will be marked in May, but he has yet to perform her last rites.

As per reports, after hearing the case in Saket Court, father of Shraddha said, “one year of my daughter’s murder will be completed in May, and I have not been able to perform her last rites.”

In a conversation with the media outlet, he said that, “I would perform the last rites after the accused is awarded the death sentence,’ before asking a question that “We will be in a position to perform the last rites only after the conclusion of the trial. It is a question when it will be concluded and I would get the body parts of my daughter.”

Meanwhile, advocate Seema Kushwaha, counseled for Vijay Walkar, said that the Nirbhaya case had taken 7 years to reach its conclusion. This case should not take years to be concluded like the Nirbhaya case.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Police wrapped up its case against Aftab Amin Poonawala. At the time when Aftab was produced before the Saket court, Vijay Walker was also present. The counsel for the Delhi Police stated that she sought advice from doctors through the “Practo” app.

Audio-video evidence of the online counselling was also played in the courtroom in the presence of Aftab. The recordings made deceased’ father emotional. In one of the recording, Shraddha can be heard saying, “he will hunt me, find me, and will kill me.”

In one of the recordings, she also confessed to the doctor/counsellor that Aftab had grabbed her throat one day. She could be heard saying in the recording, “I was completely blacked out and couldn’t breathe.”
