Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, while addressing the media at the BJP Media Center, stated that in the past five years, over a dozen priests and saints have been murdered in the state.
However, the Congress government has not provided any compensation or financial assistance to these saints and priests. He said, “In contrast, in Jaipur, a youth’s death in the Roderigez incident resulted in the government announcing compensation of Rs 50 lakhs within just an hour. The agenda of this government is only to appease their vote bank and they want to please a particular community by dividing society.”
Shekhawat said, “In Kala Kho, Dausa, a priest was brutally murdered outside his home. The priest was beaten so mercilessly that his eyes came out on the road. This incident has deeply affected millions of people in the state. Over the past five years, several incidents against saints and priests are indicative of the appeasement policy of the Gehlot government. These incidents include the murder of Saint Vijaydas, who resorted to a hunger strike after Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s assurances were not fulfilled, and several incidents of self-immolation due to frustration.”
Shekhawat added, “The government has imposed bans on Hindu festivals during its five-year term. These include stopping the Ram Navami procession, incidents of stone-pelting on rallies during the Hindu New Year celebrations, and more. On the other hand, the state’s leaders liken Hindus to terrorists, which is very shameful. The same Congress party whose leader and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had met with Sikh extremists’ terror, is today being praised by the same party’s leader, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
