Two coaches of the CSMT Shalimar Express derailed near Kalamna station in Nagpur district, Maharashtra, on Tuesday, according to railway officials. Fortunately, no fatalities or serious injuries have been reported in the incident.
Dilip Singh, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) of South East Central Railway, confirmed that two coaches, S2 and a parcel van, derailed while the train was in transit. “No passenger was injured in this incident. There is no information about any loss of life,” Singh stated.
In response to the derailment, the railway administration is making every effort to ensure passengers reach their intended destinations. A helpline has been established, and basic facilities are being provided to those affected.
Restoration work is currently underway to clear the derailed coaches and resume normal train services. This incident follows a recent derailment on October 9, when a local train derailed at Kalyan station, leading to similar concerns about railway safety.
