Security has been tightened around Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir following a reported threat by pro-Khalistan leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, founder of the banned group Sikhs for Justice. In a purported video, Pannun warned of possible violence at the temple on November 16-17, coinciding with the Ram Vivah festival on November 18, which Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to attend.

In response, Ayodhya has been placed under heavy security, with Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) personnel stationed at critical points and intensified surveillance through CCTV and drone cameras. Intelligence agencies, anti-terror squads, bomb disposal units, and additional forces from the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Uttar Pradesh Police have been deployed across the city.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) RK Nayyar confirmed that security measures were strengthened following media reports about the threat. Ayodhya Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi, however, downplayed the warning, stating that “Ayodhya is protected by Lord Hanuman,” and reassured that the city is equipped to counter any potential threats.
