Seaplane for flights between Sabarmati and Statue of Unity arrives in Gujarat

India’s first seaplane that will connect Sabarmati Riverfront Ahmedabad to Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Narmada reached Ahmedabad on Monday. Before reaching Gujarat, it landed in Kochi on the way from Male, Maldives.

The seaplane reached Gujarat on Monday and will be inaugurated on 31st October by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to mark the 146th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.

Seaplane service is going to start from two places in the state from October 31. The Statue of Unity from the Sabarmati Riverfront and the site of the Shetrunji River in Palitana have been selected for this seaplane service to be launched under the Central Government’s flight plan.

The seaplane has reached Ahmedabad from Kevadia for testing on Monday. The plane arrived in Kochi from Maldives on Sunday and landed in Kochi to refuel.

The seaplane reached Ahmedabad via Kevadia from Goa. Operations, including a trial of the Sea-plane, were carried out after arriving here.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will board a seaplane from Kevadia to the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad on 31 October.

The plane arrived in Ahmedabad at 3 pm today for testing. In this seaplane, Dr. Rajiv Gupta, MD of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd, reached Ahmedabad from Kevadia.

Meanwhile, the city police have also started security preparations. Ahmedabad Crime Branch JCP Amit Vishwakarma, Sector 1 JCP RV Asari and officials visited the riverfront.

After completing the transit from Kochi to Goa, the present seaplane has reached Kevadia Lake No. 3 in Gujarat. The 19-seater C-plane will currently carry 12 passengers.

So far 16 routes have been identified under Regional Connectivity under this flight plan. The fare for the sea-plane service between Ahmedabad and the Statue of Unity has been fixed at Rs 4,800. Besides, four flights can be flown daily and the C-plane will have 2 pilots and 2 onboard crew members.
