SC rejects Bengal’s Bid, CBI probe gets nod

The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed the Bengal government’s plea challenging the Calcutta High Court order transferring the probe into the municipal recruitment irregularities case to the CBI. A bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud declined to entertain a plea filed by the West Bengal government challenging the Calcutta High Court order transferring the probe into municipal recruitment cases to the CBI.
The court also remarked that it was satisfied that the teacher recruitment irregularities were linked to municipal irregularities. The order of the single-judge bench was upheld by the Division Bench of the Calcutta High Court.
The West Bengal government had approached the Supreme Court challenging the Calcutta High Court order in a case related to the alleged municipality recruitment scam.
