The Supreme Court on Thursday issued a public alert to notify that its registry has been made aware regarding an ongoing phishing attack.
A fake website, impersonating the official website of the highest court in the land, has been established and hosted for this fraudulent activity, Supreme Court registry said.
The alert read that the attackers, through the URL, are soliciting personal details and confidential information. It further stated that, the advisory explicitly warns against sharing or revealing any personal or confidential data on this URL. Such disclosure would enable the perpetrators to gain sensitive information. The notice further advises individuals who have fallen victim to this attack to promptly alter the passwords for all their online accounts. The Registry has informed law enforcement agencies of the development for necessary action. Phishing is when cyber attackers attempt to trick users into doing ‘the wrong thing’, such as clicking a malicious link that will download malware, or direct them to a fake website. Further details on the phising attack on the Supreme Court website are awaited.
