In a proactive move to combat the scourge of illegal gambling, the Samba Police conducted a meticulously planned raid within the jurisdiction of Police Station Bari Brahmana, resulting in the apprehension of eleven individuals allegedly involved in unlawful gambling activities. The operation, which unfolded near Teli Basti in Bari Brahmana, saw the confiscation of stake money amounting to a substantial Rs. 28,500/-, along with the seizure of playing cards, 12 mobile phones, and cash.
The individuals arrested during the raid have been identified as Mohd Sahab, Ahmed, Suhaib, Asif, Adil, Mohd Saqib, Mohd Noor, Nahim Khan, Arshad Malik, Mohd Qasim, and Usman. All the apprehended individuals hail from Uttar Pradesh and reside in Teli Basti, Bari Brahmana.
The crackdown was initiated based on specific intelligence gathered by the police regarding illicit gambling activities operating within the area. Acting swiftly on this information, a dedicated team led by the Station House Officer of Bari Brahmana launched the raid at the gambling spot, catching the suspects red-handed as they engaged in prohibited gambling practices.
In addition to seizing the significant amount of stake money, authorities also confiscated playing cards and cash. Notably, twelve mobile phones were also seized from the possession of the suspects, indicating potential involvement in coordinating or facilitating gambling activities through digital means. Following the apprehension, legal proceedings have been initiated against the suspects under Section 13 of the Gambling Act.
