The Isha Foundation, led by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, has approached the Supreme Court challenging a Madras High Court order that directed the Tamil Nadu government to provide a report on all criminal cases filed against the foundation and its founder.
Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing the foundation, requested an urgent hearing from the Supreme Court, which the Centre has supported. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud remarked, “We are likely to stay the High Court order as it was issued without any prima facie reason.” The Chief Justice’s bench plans to meet with two women who were allegedly brainwashed and detained by the foundation before issuing an interim order.
Recently, a team of approximately 150 police personnel and government officials conducted an inspection of the foundation’s Yoga Centre in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, to assess conditions at the facility.
