Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt returns to the director’s chair with Sadak 2 after almost two decades but it looks like his journey is going to face a rough patch. The movie is a sequel to 1991 film Sadak and is set to release on Disney+Hotstar on 28 August.
Since the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, cries to boycott “star kids” have been louder than ever and their anger only amplified on Wednesday when a bulk of Sushant “fans” headed to YouTube to express their feelings towards director Mahesh Bhatt’s Sadak 2.
Mahesh Bhatt’s proximity to main accused Rhea Chakraborty has seen the Bhatts come in for sharp criticism from aggrieved Sushant fans on social media. Many of them have threatened to uninstall Disney+Hotstar application if Over-The-Top players went ahead with its scheduled release. The trailer of the film released on Wednesday and it met with a negative response.
Within hours of its release on 12 August, Sadak 2 managed to get downvoted 2.7 million times and the numbers are increasing with every refresh on it. At the time of writing this, the like-dislike ratio on Bhatt’s trailer-video is approximately 95%. The video has 164K likes.
Sadak 2 came across like an old-school revenge plot that has very few takers today. And Alia Bhatt seems to be caught in this crossfire.
