The Jain Study Center of Rajasthan University is organising a national conference to mark the 2550th Nirvana Mahotsav of Lord Mahavir and the 50th establishment day of the centre, along with the commemoration of H.S. Ranka. This conference will be held on December 19. The theme of the conference is “Environmental Reflection in Jain Tradition.” The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Alpana Kateja, inaugurated the poster of the National Conference. On this occasion, the Director of the Jain Study Center and the Conference Director, Prof. Rashmi Jain, Event Secretary Rohit Kumar Jain, Coordinator Dr Amita Raj Goyal, Assistant Coordinator Gopesh Sharma, and members of the organising committee, Dr Praveen Garg, Dr Jitendra Sharma, Dr Ramanivas Jangid, Dr Dinesh Chand Sharma, Dr Pankaj Jain, and others were present.
Prof. Rashmi Jain mentioned, “At present, the path to achieving environmental goals is quite far. Today, more than development, sustainable development or satisfying development is more important, which is our global goal. This can only be achieved through the participation of the community. The community has faith in religion in large numbers. Through religious principles, broad environmental awareness can be not only developed but also made a part of daily life.” Event Secretary Rohit Kumar Jain explained that the purpose of this one-day conference is also to transform the environmental consciousness described in the Jain tradition into community consciousness and present a discussion on dealing with environmental issues.
