On Saturday, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat conducted the traditional ‘Shastra Pooja’ at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur to mark the occasion of Vijayadashami. The event was graced by Padma Bhushan recipient and former ISRO chief K. Radhakrishnan, who served as the chief guest.
Several notable figures, including Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and former ISRO chief K Sivan, were also present at the ceremony. The Vijayadashami address by the RSS chief is a key annual event for the organization, where future plans and the organization’s stance on national issues are outlined.
RSS members gathered to recite the ‘Sangh Prarthana’ as part of the celebrations. In previous years, the Vijayadashami event has been attended by prominent personalities such as former President Pranab Mukherjee, HCL chief Shiv Nadar, and Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi.
Vijayadashami, or Dussehra, is a major Hindu festival celebrated at the conclusion of Navaratri, symbolizing the victory of good over evil, most famously represented by Lord Rama’s defeat of Ravana. The festival also marks the beginning of preparations for Diwali, celebrated twenty days later.
