The preparations for the upcoming elections in Rajasthan on December 3 are in the final stages. With the announcement of the election results, it will become clear which party will form the government in Rajasthan this time. However, before that, a case of significant negligence has come to light in the election. On the day of voting, the reserve EVM machine went missing. Taking action in this case, the administration has suspended two individuals. Meanwhile, the police have filed a case and initiated an investigation.
The incident of the reserve EVM machine going missing occurred in the Jodhpur city constituency. After the reserve EVM machine went missing from the government vehicle on the day of voting, there was a commotion among administrative officials.
A case has been registered in the Uday Mandir police station in Jodhpur regarding this incident.
The Election Commission has taken note of this case and ordered an investigation. In line with the Election Commission’s directive, the District Election Officer has suspended Sector Officer Pankaj Jakhar. Pankaj is a teacher at a polytechnic college, and he was responsible for overseeing the reserve EVM machine. Additionally, the Home Guard responsible for the security of the EVM has also been suspended.
Where did the EVM go?
It is worth noting that voting took place on December 25 for 199 assembly seats in Rajasthan. In this regard, arrangements were made for reserve EVM machines in all assembly constituencies so that in case of technical issues with EVM machines, they could be replaced immediately without affecting the election process. However, the disappearance of the control unit of the reserve EVM from the government vehicle highlights the negligence of the officials. In this context, a significant question is raised about who took the EVM machine. Currently, the police are actively involved in investigating the entire case.
