At least five police officers were injured in a remote-controlled bomb attack on Wednesday in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. According to police officials, the explosion targeted a police vehicle in the rugged district of Buner, specifically in the Kankoi Mandnar area.
The attack occurred while Pakistan was hosting the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, attended by several foreign delegates, including India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and China’s Premier Li Qiang.
Among the injured was a sub-inspector who sustained severe wounds. Following the blast, a significant number of police personnel arrived at the scene, securing the area and launching a search operation to track down the assailants.
This incident closely follows a deadly attack by militants linked to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) just two days earlier. That assault took place in Bannu district, resulting in intense armed clashes and the deaths of four police officers.
