The tradition of Ashok Gehlot becoming the Chief Minister once and Vasundhara Raje once has now come to an end in Rajasthan. The people of the state gave a mandate to the Bharatiya Janata Party this time, and thereafter, the central leadership, ending this tradition, presented Bhajan Lal Sharma as the new Chief Minister. In the swearing-in ceremony held at Albert Hall, Bhajan Lal Sharma became the 14th Chief Minister on his 55th birthday. For the past 25 years, Ashok Gehlot from Congress and Vasundhara Raje from BJP have been taking turns as Chief Ministers of Rajasthan. Now, a new generation is entering Rajasthan’s politics.
This was a significant moment for Rajasthan because the people of the state had been seeing Ashok Gehlot and Vasundhara Raje as Chief Ministers turn by turn since 1998. Although both attended the oath-taking ceremony and congratulated Bhajan Lal Sharma, there was a smile on his face.
The Pink City, Jaipur, was bathed in saffron hues on a chilly Friday morning. From the airport to the historic Albert Hall, and beyond, the entire city of Jaipur was painted in saffron by the Bharatiya Janata Party. In this saffron atmosphere, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Albert Hall via JLN Marg. There, he first greeted the public with folded hands.
It should be noted that three stages were set up at the venue. One stage accommodated saints and sadhus from across the country. Meanwhile, in the second stage, senior leaders of the party, including Home Minister Amit Shah, were present. The main stage was set up for the oath-taking ceremony, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Governor Kalraj Mishra, and the three leaders taking the oath were seated.
