Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma addressed the program organised at the Harit Sangam Environmental Fair in Bhilwara on Sunday. The Chief Minister paid homage to Amrita Devi, who sacrificed her life to save trees, stating that Amrita Devi, along with 363 people in Khejdali village, including Vishnoi, is the biggest example of sacrificing lives for tree conservation.
He said, “Such a unique example of natural love is not found anywhere else in the world. It is a matter of pride for all of us that she was from the land of Rajasthan.”
The Chief Minister said that he is pleased that Amrita Devi Environmental Civic Institution is continuously working for environmental conservation by planting lakhs of plants. He said, “Events like Harit Sangam are essential to raise awareness of environmental conservation. Such events spread awareness about environmental conservation. Understanding the importance of trees, we should plant as many plants as possible.”
CM Bhajan Lal said, “Our nature is our culture. We worship trees, rivers, and mountains. Since Vedic times, importance has been given to the conservation of the environment especially trees in our region. Rishi Munis contemplated under the trees. Gurukuls in the forests gave the country great rulers, royal teachers, commanders, and scholars.”
He said, “The protection and conservation of trees is a benevolent act. Thousands of species in the forests live according to the natural system given by nature. This helps us understand the importance of balance between nature and living beings.”
He said, “The natural resources are limited in the state. We are affected by the adverse effects of climate change. The state government is committed to environmental conservation, and all necessary steps will be taken in this direction. A significant change in the situation can happen with our combined efforts.”
The Chief Minister said, “The environmental conservation is also our responsibility for future generations. By taking some simple steps, we can protect the environment. We should inspire others by planting more and more plants at home and around us. Through steps like tree conservation, discontinuing single-use plastic, preventing water wastage, and creating awareness among children about the environment, we can provide a safe and golden future for the future generation.”
He said, “The message of Harit Sangam 2024 will reach every person, and awareness about environmental conservation will be created among the people. On this occasion, the Chief Minister extended Makar Sankranti greetings to the gathered crowd.”
He also viewed the exhibition ‘Bhilwara Flower Show’ based on environmental conservation. Additionally, he observed the stalls at the fair. During this, Sharma also participated in the environmental seminar. He also presented the Veer Bal Award on this occasion.
