In a heated exchange during the ongoing Parliament Winter Session, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on the Uttar Pradesh government, criticizing the handling of the Hathras gangrape case. Gandhi alleged that the accused in the brutal incident remain free, while the victim’s family continues to face harassment and is forced to stay indoors. He accused the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh of failing to ensure justice and providing protection to the victim’s relatives.
“This is a matter of grave injustice. The accused are still roaming free, while the victim’s family is living in fear and cannot even step outside their home,” Gandhi said, expressing outrage over the situation.
The comments came as Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepared to address the Lok Sabha on the 75th anniversary of the Constitution. “The Constitution is being misquoted by some, and it is unfortunate to see such comments from those who should be setting an example in respecting our nation’s laws,” Thakur said, referring to Gandhi’s remarks.
