According to sources, the Delhi Police has made a big disclosure in the chargesheet regarding the violence at the Red Fort complex on the Republic Day. The police filed the chargesheet against 16 people at a Delhi court on 17 May and stated that the violence and storming of the Red Fort was a “well-planned conspiracy”. The court has listed it for 28 May for further hearing on the issue of cognisance.

On 26 January, the plan of the farmers, agitating against the Central agriculture laws, was to occupy the Red Fort, capture it and sit there, the police chargesheet says. This has been disclosed based on the interrogation of many accused and the recorded statements.

Delhi Police sources said that according to the plan, a large number of farmers entered the Red Fort and stayed in the premises for hours.

They broke barricades to enter Delhi, clashed with police, and vandalised property in several parts of the national capital during the farmers’ tractor rally. They also entered the Red Fort and unfurled their flags from its ramparts. The peasants wanted to capture the Red Fort and make it a new demonstration site. The chargesheet alleged that the protesting farmers worldwide opted for 26 January to discredit the Modi government in India and abroad.

On the chargesheet of the Red Fort violence, Delhi Police sources further said that a plan was made for this in November-December as a large number of tractors were purchased in Haryana and Punjab. The police have attached this data to the chargesheet. Delhi Police has filed a chargesheet in the Red Fort violence case on Republic Day and actor-activist Deep Sidhu and others have been accused of it.

It was told in the chargesheet that over 500 personnel of security agencies including Delhi Police, were injured in this violence. Many policemen were seriously injured. In this regard, the police have investigated and registered 44 FIRs at various levels. Also, 150 arrests have been made so far.
