This crucial decision comes just three days after the Supreme Court lifted a stay imposed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court on the trial against Ram Rahim Singh. The Supreme Court’s order was prompted by a petition from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, which sought to expedite the legal proceedings.
The sacrilege cases have been a source of tension in Punjab, with accusations against Ram Rahim Singh related to the disrespect of religious symbols.
