Punjab Cabinet Minister and MLA Kharar, Anmol Gagan Mann today instructed the officials of Kharar Municipal Council to focus on development issues on priority to reprieve the residents of civic problems.
Taking stock of Kharar’s pending issues at the MC Office, today, she took all the details from revenue generation to expenditure. She made it clear that every penny of the public’s tax money to be spent honestly and any kind of wastage should not be permitted. Taking notice of too much less in rates competition in the tendering process, she asked the officers concerned to ensure the quality of the work as per the specifications laid down in the tendering document.
She said that as per the information submitted by the officials during the meeting, tenders worth Rs 23 Crore have been received and on receiving a performance guarantee as per the condition laid down, the world would be allocated accordingly. Similarly, tenders of another amount Rs 14 Crore would be floated after getting these approved in the upcoming general house meeting of the MC. Apart from that, Proposals worth Rs 31 crore are in the pipeline and the authorities have been directed to mature these by getting on to the tendering process.
Reviewing the Extra Development Charges from the builders, she said that the MC officials have been asked to recover the pending amount of Rs 90 crore so that the residents should not wait for civic facilities to be provided by the MC. She directed the MC Kharar Officials to prepare a list of the illegal colonies and slap notices on them to generate revenue besides providing basic civic amenities there.
Taking serious note of some wards sans civic amenities like water supply and street lights, she strictly ordered the MC officials to make alternate arrangements for water supply and installation of street lights after adopting the regular procedure.
Asserting the need for remediation of legacy waste near the Darpan City dump, she asked the MC officials to identify a new site for fresh waste and tie up with an agency for its daily disposal.
She said that a consultant will be hired for waste management disposal immediately and a long-term solution to be devised is a permanent solution.
Emphasizing the cleanliness of the city roads and residential areas she said that we need proper planning for the optimum utilization of our workforce deployed on sanitation.
She asked the MC officials to expedite the process of passing building plans that meet building bylaws. Similarly, the NOCs should not be delayed if the applicant meets all the formalities.
Asking for the vacant urban properties available with the MC Kharar for further development of these lands such as Food Street etc., she also insisted upon hiring a consultant for beautification and landscaping of the city roads besides graffiti on the walls of flyovers passing through the city roads.
She said that Kharar MC consisted among the state’s richest urban local bodies and it’s our primary duty to beautify the city besides providing all the residents with requisite civic amenities.
Besides, SDM Kharar Ravinder Singh, EO Sukhdev Singh, and other staff including ME, SDO, and JE were present in this marathon meeting.
