The Gandhi family is campaigning by addressing a series of rallies in Rajasthan in view of the upcoming assembly elections. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi addressed several public meetings in the poll-bound state to boost Congress’s campaign.
On Wednesday, Priyanka addressed the public meeting in support of Congress candidates Manish Yadav and Indraj Gurjar in Shahpura, while Rahul Gandhi addressed gatherings in Dholpur’s Rajakhera, Nadbai in Bharatpur, and Gangapur City.
Rahul Gandhi targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and businessman Gautam Adani.
During his speeches, Rahul Gandhi remarked that Narendra Modi’s job is to divert attention, coming on TV and talking about Hindu-Muslim issues, demonetisation, and suggesting, “Hang me.” Rahul described Narendra Modi as someone who diverts attention, Adani who cuts pockets, and later, Amit Shah, who resorts to the lathi charge.
Commenting on the Prime Minister, Rahul stated that Narendra Modi’s work is to divert your attention. He appears on TV, says Hindu-Muslim, demonetisation, and tells them to hang him. Narendra Modi diverts attention, Adani cuts pockets, and Amit Shah later resorts to a lathi charge.
Rahul said, “They say ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and cheer for Adani Ji, while I say ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ for the poor, Dalits, tribals, and small shopkeepers of Hindustan.”
He continued, criticising the BJP leaders who insist on learning Hindi, saying, “Ask them, their children study in English medium schools. They want your children to study in Hindi medium schools. We say every child in Rajasthan should learn Hindi and English. The children of farmers, labourers, and small traders should dream big. If you want to become a pilot, go to America by plane. The dream should come true.”
Referring to the caste-based census, Rahul Gandhi mentioned, “If their government comes to Rajasthan, the first task will be to conduct a caste census. Moreover, when the Congress government comes to the Centre, we will conduct a caste census throughout the country, ensuring participation from backward classes, the poor, Dalits, and tribals.” He also said that after the caste census, they will take action, and India will change. The day they involve the poor, Dalits, tribals, and backward classes in running the country, miracles will happen in this country.
Priyanka asks how BJP is the richest party.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to Ahmedabad to watch a cricket match hoping to claim a bit of credit if India won, but did not visit the violence-hit Manipur as there was a crisis. She also said Modi claims to be a fakir and asked how the BJP became the richest party under his rule.
Priyanka Gandhi said, “Manipur has been engulfed in ethnic violence for nearly seven months but the prime minister did not go there. Instead, he visited Ahmedabad to watch the cricket World Cup final between India and Australia.”
“In the recent World Cup, our team reached the final with their hard work…Modi ji reached there so he might also get a bit of credit if the team wins,” she said, adding the prime minister would go to a place where there is pride and honour, but would stay away from a crisis situation.
She alleged that Prime Minister Modi and the Centre waived the debts of big industrialists but neglected the poor. She also said mixing religion with politics is a sin. She alleged that the BJP-led governments at the Centre and in states are working for big industrialists, whereas the Congress government in Rajasthan provided relief to people from inflation by holding special camps.
The Congress is now targetting the Centre government for supporting the big industrialists like Adani and Ambani and filling up their pockets. The BJP is also targeting Congress over the rising crime and corruption in the state. However, the public will make it clear who deserves to form a government in the state.
