Saurabh Bhardwaj revealed that PWD and police officials informed them that they had received instructions from higher authorities to prevent entry into the residence. “Every day, the BJP was releasing videos and photos of the residence. Now, we have come with the media to visit the residence, but we are not being allowed to enter. Three layers of barricades have been set up to prevent our entry. If they had allowed us, the truth would have been revealed.
We wanted to see where the golden toilets and swimming pool are,” Bhardwaj said.
The bungalow at 6 Flagstaff Road has become a bone of contention after BJP accused Kejriwal of overspending on expensive renovations, claiming the luxurious fittings were excessive. AAP countered by offering the media an opportunity to visit the property and challenged the BJP to allow similar scrutiny of the Prime Minister’s official residence. The AAP called the Prime Minister’s residence a “Raj Mahal,” alleging it cost 2,700 crores to construct. BJP Delhi chief Virendra Sachdeva has made the allegations of missing valuable items, including the “golden commode,” a central part of the party’s assembly campaign.
