A Supreme Court judge has decided to recuse himself from the hearing of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia bail plea in the Delhi excise policy case. The matter was scheduled for a hearing on July 11 before a bench comprising justices Sanjiv Khanna, Sanjay Karol, and Sanjay Kumar.
The Supreme Court adjourned the hearing to the following week after Justice Sanjay Kumar recused himself from the Manish Sisodia bail plea case. The bench announced that another panel, excluding Justice Sanjay Kumar, will handle Manish Sisodia’s two separate pleas seeking the revival of his bail petitions related to cases filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are investigating the alleged corruption in the excise policy.
During the hearing, Justice Khanna informed the court, “Our brother has some difficulty. He would not like to hear this matter for personal reasons.” Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, representing the Aam Aadmi Party, urged the bench to prioritize the matter due to the urgency of the situation, emphasizing that trials have yet to commence in both cases.
