Gehlot Criticises Government On SI Recruitment, Infrastructure, And Development Issues

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot raised serious concerns about the current state government’s actions, accusing them of deliberately prolonging important matters such as recruitment exams, district formation, and the implementation of key schemes. He addressed the media in Jodhpur on Sunday, elaborating on several issues and challenges faced by the state under the present government.

Concerns Over Delays In SI Recruitment Exam

Gehlot expressed his concerns about the handling of the Rajasthan Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment exam, which has been plagued by delays and controversies. He claimed that the government is intentionally prolonging the process to give the impression that the paper leak occurred during the previous government’s tenure. Gehlot stressed that although papers were leaked across the country, swift action should be taken against those responsible rather than prolonging the matter unnecessarily. He added that states like Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Punjab have faced similar issues, emphasising the importance of addressing these matters promptly.

Support For English Medium Education In Rural Areas

On the subject of English medium schools, Gehlot praised the initiative of introducing English-medium education in rural areas, stating that it empowered children in villages to learn English and compete globally in fields such as AI and IT. He highlighted the importance of English in today’s world, particularly for the future of the youth.

Opposition To Halting New District Formation

The former CM also expressed dissatisfaction over the government’s decision to halt the formation of new districts, a move he believed would have improved governance and facilitated implementation of public schemes. He argued that discontinuing this initiative is harming public welfare and depriving the people of opportunities for better governance.

Gehlot Raises Questions Over ERCP Agreement

Regarding the ERCP (Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project), Gehlot raised questions about a secretive agreement between two states and urged the government to share more information about the agreement and its potential impact on Rajasthan. He also criticised the current government for not presenting its achievements and instead focusing on undoing policies introduced by the previous administration.

Stalled Developmental Projects Under Current Government

Additionally, Gehlot pointed out the stalling of several developmental projects approved during his tenure, such as the Fintech University and the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Social Science, which have not made any progress. He also urged the government to inaugurate the Pachpadra refinery project as soon as possible, emphasising that the project would have benefited the youth by providing local job opportunities.

Gehlot Urges Shekhawat To Focus On Tourism

Lastly, Gehlot took a jab at Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, advising him to focus more on the tourism industry in Rajasthan. He suggested that Shekhawat push for tourism to be given the status of an industry in the state, thereby boosting the local economy and generating more job opportunities.
