In a huge blow to former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the latter lost the assembly elections from the New Delhi seat. Parvesh Sahib Verma of the BJP defeated Kejriwal in a neck-and-neck contest which witnessed fluctuating results during the counting phase. Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia also lost to BJP’s Tarwinder Singh Marwah.
AAP has flopped miserably in the elections with BJP building a consistent lead from day one of voting. It is losing big time in important constituencies like Kalkaji, Jangpura, and Patparganj. Kejriwal had 25,999 votes and trailed behind by 4,089 votes.
Anti-incumbency mood, Modi ki Guarantee campaign, and so on are there. So, BJP would get a sure win, with 47 leading seats. AAP may have lost partially because of very high aggressive campaigning done by the BJP in Delhi and also because of liquor scam and ‘Sheesh Mahal’ row for which AAP did not have a single kind of argumentation. The party is also in trouble after separation from the Congress-led INDIA bloc. The results closely mimic exit polls, which had foretold of a BJP victory, with some even giving the party more than 50 seats.
