The law enforcement community mourns the loss of Police Sub-Inspector Deepak Sharma, who bravely battled injuries sustained during a firefight with gangsters at GMC Kathua. Officials confirmed today that Sharma, aged around 32, tragically succumbed to his injuries at Amandeep Hospital in Pathankot this morning.
Sharma, who sustained head injuries during the intense shootout that occurred around 10:35 pm last night, had been undergoing treatment at Amandeep Hospital. Tragically, despite the medical efforts, he could not overcome his injuries. Alongside Sharma, another policeman identified as Anil Kumar, a Special Police Officer, was also wounded in the exchange of fire.
Hailing from Sangoor near the railway station in Udhampur, Sharma’s valor and sacrifice have deeply shaken the law enforcement fraternity. A wreath-laying ceremony to honor his bravery and service is scheduled to take place today at DPL Samba, where colleagues and officials will pay their respects.
