In a relentless crackdown on the rampant issue of drug peddling, the Kulgam Police has taken a significant step by attaching valuable properties owned by a notorious drug peddler. The attached properties include a double-storey residential house measuring 1291.48 Sq.Ft valued at Rs 25,62,425 and a cowshed measuring 1139.5 Sq.Ft valued at Rs 67,8803. The assets belong to Bashir Ahmad Khanday, son of Mohd Sultan Khanday and a resident of Nippora, under section 68-F(2) of the NDPS Act 1985.
The action was initiated based on the identification of these properties as illegally acquired during the course of an investigation conducted by Kulgam Police. It was found that the assets were prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances by the property owner. Notably, Bashir Ahmad Khanday is implicated in Case FIR number 148/2022 at Police Station Qazigund.
This move underscores the commitment of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in the ongoing battle against the drug menace. The local community in the area has lauded the Police’s initiative to attach immovable property, emphasizing the importance of curbing the use of assets obtained through illicit drug trafficking in the Kulgam district.
The action not only sends a strong message against drug-related offenses but also aims to disrupt the financial foundations of those involved in the illicit drug trade. The Kulgam Police remains steadfast in its determination to eradicate drug-related activities and maintain the safety and well-being of the community.
