In a relentless pursuit against drug peddlers, the Kulgam Police has taken a significant step by attaching the property of a notorious drug dealer. The attached property, a double-storied residential house spanning 625 sq. ft, belongs to Mashooq Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Qadir Sheikh, a resident of Khudwani Qaimoh, Kulgam. This action has been taken under section 68-F(2) of the NDPS Act 1985.
The identification of the property as illegally acquired stems from an investigation/enquiry conducted by Kulgam police, where it was found that the property was prima facie acquired through illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances by the owner. Mashooq Ahmad Sheikh is specifically implicated in Case FIR number 66/2023 at Police Station Qaimoh.
This decisive move underscores the unwavering commitment of the police force to combat the pervasive drug menace. The local community in the area has lauded the initiative, recognizing the significance of attaching immovable property associated with the illicit trafficking of narcotics by the notorious drug peddler.
This action not only serves as a deterrent against those involved in the drug trade but also sends a strong message about the authorities’ determination to eradicate the scourge of drugs from the region. The Kulgam Police remains steadfast in its mission to create a drug-free and safer environment for the residents, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to eliminate the grip of narcotics on society.
