On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for AIIMS Darbhanga and inaugurated development projects worth ₹12,000 crore across Bihar. Addressing a gathering in Darbhanga, he highlighted the NDA government’s commitment to Bihar’s development and welfare. “Our government is dedicated to the progress of the nation, and today we are marking the launch of projects valued at ₹12,000 crore,” he said.

AIIMS Darbhanga is set to transform healthcare in Bihar, featuring a super-speciality hospital, AYUSH block, medical and nursing colleges, night shelters, and residential facilities. The new facility will deliver advanced healthcare services for residents of Bihar and nearby areas.

Additionally, the Prime Minister inaugurated several National Highway projects totaling around ₹5,070 crore. Among them is the new four-lane Galgalia-Araria section of NH-327E, providing an alternate route from Araria on NH-27 to West Bengal. Eight other National Highway projects were launched, including roads linking Ramnagar to Rosera and the Bihar-West Bengal border to Manihari, alongside new bypasses in Raniganj, Katoria, Lakhpura, Banka, and Panjwara.

In the rail sector, Modi laid foundation stones for projects worth over ₹1,740 crore, including the Sonenagar Bypass Railway line and initiatives to relieve traffic congestion in Darbhanga. Railway projects valued at ₹1,520 crore were dedicated, including gauge conversion of the Jhanjharpur-Laukaha Bazar rail section and the doubling of lines to improve regional connectivity.

For energy infrastructure, the PM announced initiatives worth ₹4,020 crore, focusing on clean energy access and industrial growth. This includes the foundation for a City Gas Distribution network in Darbhanga, Madhubani, Supaul, Sitamarhi, and Sheohar, aiming to expand Piped Natural Gas access. A new bitumen manufacturing unit at Barauni Refinery was also announced to reduce dependency on imported bitumen.
