Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Srinagar on June 20, the anti-terrorism task force has initiated a crackdown against terror-related activities in Jammu and Kashmir. A combined unit of the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police successfully neutralized two terrorists in North Kashmir’s Baramulla on Wednesday afternoon. The operation commenced following a cordon and search operation in the Hadipora area of Sopore, where terrorists engaged in gunfire, resulting in a gun battle.
Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to arrive in Srinagar around 6 PM on June 20 and participate in the ‘Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K’ event at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar. Additionally, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various development projects in J&K. On June 21 at 6:30 AM, PM Modi will join the 10th International Day of Yoga celebration at SKICC in Srinagar, with an anticipated attendance of around 4,000 individuals on the Dal Lake’s banks.
Regarding security operations, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have made the first arrest in the Reasi terror attack that occurred on June 9. This attack resulted in nine fatalities and 33 injuries after a bus carrying pilgrims from Shiv Khori cave shrine to Katra in Reasi district faced a terrorist assault in Teryath village. The police have apprehended Hakim Din from Rajouri, suspected of facilitating logistics for the attack.
In a separate incident, police in Doda district detained Mohammad Rafi, who absconded on Tuesday along with an AK-47 rifle belonging to a special police officer (SPO). The SPO, Safdar Hussain, had taken a lift from Mohammad Rafi in his vehicle and disembarked near a flyover in Doda to purchase a water bottle, inadvertently leaving his AK-47 rifle inside Rafi’s car. Subsequently, Rafi absconded with the weapon, abandoning the vehicle later in the Jagota area of Bhalla.
