Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep gratitude after a tribal woman from Odisha handed Rs 100 to BJP leader Baijayant Jay Panda to convey her thanks to him. The emotional incident took place during the BJP’s membership drive in Sundargarh district, reflecting the profound impact PM Modi’s initiatives have had on the common people.

PM Modi Responds to the Gesture

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi reacted to Panda’s account of the event, stating, “Very touched by this affection. I bow to our Nari Shakti for always blessing me. Their blessings inspire me to keep working to build a Viksit Bharat.” The Prime Minister emphasized the strength and support of women across India, motivating him to continue working towards a developed nation.

Baijayant Jay Panda’s Post

Baijayant Jay Panda, BJP vice president, shared the story of the woman’s generosity on X, recounting how she insisted on giving him Rs 100 to pass on to PM Modi. “She brushed aside my explanations that it wasn’t necessary and simply would not take no for an answer until I finally relented,” Panda wrote, accompanied by pictures of the woman. He noted that this gesture symbolizes the transformation India and Odisha are witnessing under the current leadership.

BJP’s Rise in Odisha

This touching moment comes in the wake of BJP’s recent electoral success in Odisha. In the 2024 state elections, the BJP ended the 24-year-long reign of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) by securing 78 seats in the 147-seat assembly. Additionally, the BJP made significant strides in the Lok Sabha elections, winning 20 out of 21 parliamentary seats in the state.
