Early Life & Education
Kartikeya Sharma was born on May 14, 1981, to politicians Venod Sharma and Shakti Rani Sharma. After completing his Bachelor of Business Administration at King's College London, he began to pursue his entrepreneurial ventures.
Beginning in Media Industry
He launched ITV Media Network in 2007 and quickly made a name for himself as a media entrepreneur with TV channels such as India News and NewsX. Through ITV Media he started to expand into national and regional broadcasting.
Growth and Diversification
He expanded with strategic acquisitions in print media acquiring The Sunday Guardian and Aaj Samaj and then took newswire services in house and launched those too. As of 2015 ITV Media had numerous channels in multiple Indian states.
Ventures in Hospitality & Sports
Kartikeya Sharma entered the hospitality industry as the owner of Piccadilly Hotels (partnership with Hyatt). In 2015, he co-founded Pro Spotify and took the Pro Wrestling League to India. This sparked his adult interest in sports management.
Political Journey
In June 2022, Sharma was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Haryana due to the BJP. Since then, he has represented India in several international platforms from 145th IPU Assembly, two key public events, as well as, other parliamentary responsibilities.
Achievements and Honours
In addition to many other acknowledgments of his leadership, Sharma had received the Champions of Change Award in 2022, 'Best CEO of the Year' by eNBA in 2016, and 'Person Of the Year' by Businessworld in 2022, reaffirming Sharma's importance in the business and media sector in India.
