Who is Maharaja Ranjit Singh?

Maharaja Ranjit Singh, known as the ‘Lion of Punjab,’ was a remarkable Sikh ruler who successfully defended Punjab from Afghan invasions. He founded the Sikh Empire in the early 19th century and was its first ruler. Despite losing vision in one eye due to smallpox during childhood, Ranjit Singh emerged as a formidable leader and military strategist, consolidating a vast Sikh empire, resisting Afghan forces, and challenging British expansion. His administration was inclusive, with Sikhs, Hindus, Muslims, and Europeans playing key roles.
