Late last night, the Indian Army successfully thwarted an attempted breach of Indian airspace by a Pakistani drone in the Mendhar area of Poonch. The drone, which came within 100 meters of the Line of Control, faced heavy resistance from Indian forces, with over two dozen rounds fired in its direction. After approximately 10 minutes of persistent efforts, the intruding drone retreated back into Pakistani territory.

According to official sources, the drone activity was detected around 19:30 hours on February 27, 2024, in the forward area of Mendhar, approximately 15 kilometers northwest of the town. Indian troops promptly responded to the intrusion by firing speculative rounds, forcing the drone to withdraw from the area.

In a separate incident, Indian Army personnel in the Sarla area of Krishna Ghati sector, Poonch, fired nearly ten rounds following suspected movement observed near the Line of Control. The swift response from the Indian side underscores the vigilance and readiness of security forces in the region.

In light of these developments, security forces have initiated extensive search operations in Mendhar and Krishna Ghati areas to preempt any potential drone activities or infiltration attempts by terrorists. Authorities have also alerted the Jammu and Kashmir Police about the overnight incidents, highlighting the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security along the volatile border.
