Pakistan Army Suffers Heavy Losses in LoC Ceasefire Violation

On Wednesday, Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, prompting a strong retaliation by the Indian Army. This marks the first ceasefire violation of 2025, following the renewal of the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan on February 25, 2021.

Unprovoked Firing Leads to Casualties

According to security officials, Pakistani forces engaged in unprovoked firing at Indian posts in the Tarkundi area, located in the Krishna Ghati sector. The Indian Army responded swiftly, causing significant casualties on the Pakistani side, although the exact extent of the damage remains unclear.

A Day After Deadly IED Explosion

The ceasefire violation came just a day after two Indian Army personnel, including a captain, were killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast near the LoC in Jammu’s Akhnoor sector. This marks a troubling escalation in border tensions.

The Situation at the LoC

The situation remains tense along the LoC, with a noticeable increase in hostile activities over the past week. This latest violation marks the fourth cross-border incident in just five days, following a soldier being hit by a bullet in Nowshera and an Army patrol coming under fire from terrorists in the Keri sector.

Minor Injury to Indian Officer

In addition to the ceasefire violation, an Indian Army junior commissioned officer (JCO) suffered minor injuries when he accidentally stepped on a landmine while patrolling the LoC. He was promptly evacuated to a military hospital for treatment.
