VIVO V23 PRO, A SMARTPHONE FOR SELFIES

Vivo, since the very beginning has been a brand which has been associated with camera centric smartphones. The brand over the years has been a market disruptor in a lot of sectors but it’s association with a good lens has always been most highlighted.

2022 and Vivo brings to market its first offering. V23 & V23 Pro. The ethos of V series continues with V23 Pro. The device comes with a new-and-improved 50MP dual-selfie camera setup. So it is yet again a selfie device or much more let’s find out?

Design: The highlight of the devices design is the colour-changing Fluorite AG glass back but for now it is only available in Sunshine Gold. The device is also available in Stardust Black which has been my review unit.

I am a fan of matt finish, and this soft back matte finish has been a head turner for me. The device is sleek and well weighted. It is so light and can be one of the slimmest devices in the market.

You have the triple camera setup at the back. Perfectly styled with no lens popping out. Vivo logo well set and well merged with the back at the bottom.

The V23 Pro features a glass back, while the sides are made of plastic. There’s a bottom-firing speaker, a Type-C charging port, a dual-SIM slot, volume rockers and a power button on the bottom and the sides of the smartphone.

The front of the screen has a notch with the dual – selfie camera set up.

Display: The Vivo V23 comes with a 3D curved screen on the front. It’s a 6.56-inch AMOLED display that offers a 90Hz refresh rate. We would have enjoyed a 120Hz refresh rate on this curved screen for sure.

Even with 90Hz the screen is bright and is great outdoors. The AMOLED screen makes the viewing experience even better. You enjoy watching content and even with curved screen you don’t have accidental touches.

Performance & Software: Vivo V23 Pro is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 1200 processor. It’s a value-for-money SoC and one that doesn’t fail to impress. The processor is well tested and used and doesn’t fail to impress. Multi- tasking and playing game were seamless on the device. I didn’t feel a lag at all on the device. While taking pictures, zoom calls or even while watching content.

Vivo V23 Pro runs Vivo’s own custom skin that is known as FunTouch 12. This one is based on Android 12. The interface is easy and quite clean.

Camera: The rear features a triple-camera array with a 108MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor and a 2MP macro sensor. The notch on the front houses the 50MP main selfie shooter accompanied by the 8MP lens that helps with wide-angle shots.

As mentioned above this device is for selfie lovers. They have two lens, and the output is much better than you would have expected. Everyone who is looking for that perfect selfie with some new beautification features would be very happy with the result.

Vivo V23 Pro gets dual- flash array just above the lens making the low light selfies also look great. It will be a great pick for social media influencers.

Looking at the main lens the result was just ok. You would have wanted some path breaking results which might not be the case. The ultra-wide and even the Night mode are not as great as you would have wished for. The color quality dips. The device has mostly concentered on the front camera.

Battery: Vivo V23 Pro get a 4,300mAh battery with a heavy day usage it might last you just till the night. The device comes with a 44W charger. It charged the phone from 0-100 percent in under an hour.

Verdict: V23 Pro starts at Rs 38,990 for the 8GM RAM variant & the 12 GB variant is for out Rs 43,990.

The device is sleek, good looking easy to hold, and the display is comfortable. It comes with a great front camera and gives you social media friendly pictures.

What the device lacks is a 120Hz refresh rate, not the best-in-class rear camera and an average battery.

So, if you are someone who has been a fan of the Vivo brands selfie camera you would love this device. For someone who is looking for the sleek, good – looking average performance device with and exceptional front camera this can be your pick.
